Customized treatments to leave your skin glowing

Pearl Fractional

The Pearl laser treatment revolutionizes the treatment of skin texture, fine, medium and deep wrinkles of the face, neck, chest and back of hands. It is also effective in treating acne scars, sun damage and general skin rejuvenation.

The Pearl treatment treats the top layer of the skin to remove sun damage, texture and fine lines. The layer just below the epidermis of the skin receives heat to stimulate collagen growth and a skin tightening effect.

The Pearl Fractional treatment can be likened to aerating a lawn.

By treating just a fraction of the skin, the laser energy can be delivered much deeper into the dermis to initiate repair at those deeper levels with much less risk and downtime than non-fractional laser treatments.

With our ablative laser technology we can reveal the fresh, youthful skin that is just under the surface of your rough, uneven surfaces.

The Treatment

Pearl Fractional is a skin resurfacing therapy that exposes the skin to a laser beam in a pattern of tiny dots.  During the procedure, the laser pulses place tiny holes in the skin.  The process removes columns of damaged tissue and then stimulates the body’s own natural process for creating healthy new skin.  This thickens the skin at the deep collagen level and resurfaces the top layer of skin.  Patients notice an immediate improvement in their complexion, (texture, tone, discolouration) and photo-damaged skin, greatly reducing the signs of aging in as fast as 6 weeks after the first treatment.

We use a topical numbing cream and at times, local anesthesia prior to treatment for added comfort. With Pearl, there is a period of social downtime. Depending on the level of treatment you receive, you may expect between 7-10 days of social downtime typically. This means that you will be red with minor swelling and should avoid sun exposure. A post-treatment care product is applied to protect your new skin while it is healing.

  • How does CoolGlide Vein Therapy work?
The Cutera CoolGlide systems deliver pulses of light energy which causes the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be.
  • What type of veins can be treated?
The Cutera CoolGlide can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins (or “telangiectaia”) can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates.
  • How does this compare to Sclerotherapy?
Your doctor will advise you on the best course of action, but many physicians and patients prefer CoolGlide Vein Therapy because there are no painful injections.
  • What about blood blisters and port wine stains?
Blood blisters or “hemangiomas” respond very well to CoolGlide Vein Therapy, usually with just one treatment. Patients with port wine stains and other vascular lesions who had given up on finding a solution have been overwhelmed by the success of their CoolGlide vascular treatments.
  • How many treatments will I need?
Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, colour, and size of the vessels being treated.
  • What happens after the treatment?
Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur. When larger veins are treated, who have leg vein treatments may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time.
  • What are the possible side effects?
Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours. Some patients may experience bruising and, in rare instances, blistering may occur.
  • Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun.
  • When will I see results?
Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to eight weeks of treatment. However, your final results may not be apparent for several months. Over time, it is possible for new veins to appear, but these too can be removed with the Cutera CoolGlide.
